Superman reboot cast update

Warner Bros. officially informs us that Diane Lane has signed a contract to play Martha Kent in the future Superman movie.
Diane Lane received an Oscar nomination for her performance in Unfaithful in 2002 and will surely add something good to the casting, which is still unsure, of Zack Snyder's Man of Steel.
Snyder says:

“This was a very important piece of casting for me because Martha Kent is the woman whose values helped shape the man we know as Superman. We are thrilled to have Diane in the role because she can convey the wisdom and the wonder of a woman whose son has powers beyond her imagination.”

Knowing that the film will be based on a screenplay written by Chris Nolan and David S. Goyer, a scenario that will not focus on the origins of Superman, but more on Clark Kent's parents, and the family farm and assuming the role Jonathan Kent will be played by Kevin Costner (according to recent rumors), I argued strongly that Warner Bros. is about to gather a great casting.

Call us what you want, but dosent get a little too obvious that film industry has an obsession to produce films that treat the origin of super heroes lately?
Not that it would be a very bad idea.
Just remember what Nolan did with Batman Begins.
Sure, he is not directing the future Superman movie, but I think we can say that he will be significantly involved in the creative process and this just might bring more success and revival of Man of Steel in the 21st century.
We just have to wait these press releases about the casting, hoping they will live up to expectations.
