Remember the 2003 movie Daredevil? directed by Mark Steven Johnson starring Ben Affleck?
Just one week ago, talks about a Daredevil reboot have been rekindled.
20th Century Fox has initiated development of a Daredevil reboot about a year ago and now it looks like a director it's interested in the project.
That director is David Slade, and according to reports, people at Fox want to restore the image of The Man Without Fear - Daredevil - on the big screen, but a formal agreement has not yet been made.
A Daredevil reboot would have to go into production soon, because the film rights will revert back to Marvel Studios and owner Walt Disney Pictures if the time limit is exceeded by Fox.Simply: Fox has bought the film rights for a certain period of time and if production does not start, they will go back to owner.
Chances are that people from Fox will follow the footsteps of the new Ghost Rider and Spider Man reboot The Amazing Spider-Man, making Daredevil an attractive new production, with the intention to provide a tougher and more authentic action.
Comic book author Antony Johnston talked in the past about how exactly a new Daredevil film it would look to be able to distinguish the success of the movie from the ridiculed 2003 film with Ben Affleck:
- "I think a Daredevil reboot would have to be taken more seriously.
I took my girlfriend with me to see the movie when it first opened, and a combination of bad effects and unsuccessful CGI, adding the pointless story made me want to leave right away." said Antony. How much people at Fox will help to create a new character and how appropriate is David Slade to direct a new Daredevil remains to be seen in the coming months, or maybe you think we will see another project left pond because of the film rights?
